The National romped home with a 4 ½ to ½ win over Devilbend at Sorrento today to take possession of the 2026 Division 1 Peninsula Matchplay flag.

Sorrento who hosted today’s last contest could only watch and wait but as each match finished they knew that the flag would not be joining the two other flags they had won in Pennant this year.

The National, captained by Melissa Glenn, retained their original squad throughout and when one member was not playing they caddied instead.  The bonding of the team shone through.

Peninsula Matchplay will conclude next Monday when the final of Division 2 will be conducted at Flinders between Berwick Montuna, and Cerberus.   Berwick Montuna were undefeated during the season whereas Cerberus had to rely on winning more matches to edge out Portsea to reach the final.
